National Craft Month Week 5 Tutorial

I'd like to thank my fabulous Designers for the great tutorials this past month.  You girls are so awesome!

This week Sheri Twing has made a wonderful video to show you how to make Circle Punch Flowers.

We had so much with the tutorials this month...we decided to make it a regular feature here at ScrapTiffany.  Next Tuesday, we will start our Tutorial Tuesdays, followed by our Blog Highjack on Wednesdays!  Lots of fun stuff ahead...so always check back to see what we are up to.

Bottlecap Pendant Tutorial

Sorry this is a little late, but what can I say...Life sometimes get's in the way of the Blogging!

I started making these Bottle cap Pendants at Christmas time, but never got around to finishing them...I was working on those 3 Daily December Albums!

So this is the very basics of making a necklace out of a Bottle Cap.  There are tons of videos on Youtube, or you can Google it and lots of great pictures and ideas will come up.

My Bottle Caps have all been pre-flattened, I bought them like that off of E-bay.  I got 50 of them for $2.99.  I hate pulling out the hammer, so having them already flattened was great!  The above cap is the inside.

This is the top of the cap.  It's up to you which way you turn it, depending on the look that you are going for.  I usually use the inside of the cap.

These were some die cut letters from a Kit Club from YEARS ago.  They fit perfectly in the center of the cap.  I inked the edges and glued them inside the center.  You can also use a 1 inch circle punch to cut out any pictures or designs from your favorite scrapbook papers.

Now cover the letter with Diamond Glaze.  Remove any air bubbles.  As it dries, more bubble become visible, keep popping them.  Depending how thick you made your glaze, the drying time can take hours, I usually leave them overnight.

Resin can also be used to cover your letter or graphics.

Here are two that are dry....see those dang air bubbles?  I wasn't paying attention as they were drying!

OK, more bubbles....This one is on the top of a Bottle Cap, see the difference?

Look No bubbles!

This one is a metal charm, and it fits perfectly.  I just added the hole in the bottle cap, right through the hole in the charm.

I used the small hole in the crop-o-dile to punch a hole in the bottle cap.

I wanted a larger more chunky looking hole for mine, for a tinier hole, you can use a small nail, and tap it in the bottle cap with a hammer.

For these necklace charms, I am using Tim Holtz's jump rings.  I use two of the larger jump rings, that way if one comes open you always have that second one to keep it secure.

You can thread your finished charm with a leather choker, or ribbon or any chain.  To embellish it further, you can add a tiny hole on the bottom and add beads or some metal charms.

I added a Grunge Flower to this one, with a little snap in the center...I just love those!

So that's it!  Easy Peasy!  Monday morning, bright and early....our new Challenge!

National Craft Month Week 4 Tutorial

I get by with a little help from my Friends

I love my friend Cindy. 

I am perfectly comfortable saying that I have a bit of a Girl Crush on her.  :) 

She is the perfect friend, and always has time for me if I need her.

I got to go over to the Love Shack this past weekend and scrap with her.  If you haven't checked out her scrap area before...go here now!

Her daughter stopped in to take some pictures of us.  We must document our time together!!

Cindy and I both have Canon Rebels, and unlike me, she has actually learned to use hers  She offered to take some pictures of me, and I happened to be wearing pink, so I said yes.  I LOVE how they turned out...Thank you sweet girl!  So here are a few shots from our impromptu 5 minute photo shoot inside the Love Shack.

~American Idol....I must now profess my love and adoration for another woman....Crystal Bowersox.  OMG!  Had to listen to it twice, Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin...she was dang amazing!  I also love Casey and Didi.  They finally stepped up this week, and they were singing songs with an actual beat.  Yeah!!

Project 52 Week #11

I had meant to post this card with last weeks cards, but I couldn't find it.  I've been doing a lot of "Moving" in my studio the past week, and things are just a bit disorganized at the moment.  And if you know anything about me.....I don't like chaos!  When I walk into my studio I see so much that needs to be done, but then I get distracted by all the projects that I want to do.  What's a girl to do??

This is the flower that I made yesterday.  I just added a few layers of tulle underneath the flower, and a few pieces under the brad in the center.

Now most of you know that I do not like to stamp on my projects.  Mainly because it is too imperfect.  Most people are great at stamping....me?...not so much.  I recently purchased two really nice sets of acrylic stamps.  They are mostly greetings for all the cards I have been making lately.  So I used a stamp on this card, and smudged ink on the edge of the card.  Normally I would toss the card, and I would certainly never show it to you!  But I'm trying to be more normal, (haha) so I showed it to you.  Art is not perfect, neither am I.  :)

I don't normally use a lot of green in my layouts, but this week has really gotten me in the mood for spring, and possibly summer???

I have a feeling next weeks challenge will really Challenge my Designers.  I tried not to over think it, and just had fun with it.  Stop back by on Monday to see what they did!

Sometimes I forget that aside from this being my business blog, it's also my personal blog.  I have family and friends (non scrappers) that like to check in on me and see what the kids have been up to.  I have to admit, I have not been very good about taking the camera with me lately, so I never have any pictures.  I took a few pics this week, so here you go.

This is for you Cathy...

Boy...he really doesn't like me taking his picture, especially when we are on our way to practice.

Chance just started baseball on Monday, and he is SO glad to be playing again.  He's playing with his All Star coaches from a few years back, and he's in Babe Ruth this year.  Momma is also happy it's baseball season!  I love to watch him play.  And...I'm super excited...no royal and yellow this year!!  Yeah...doing the happy dance!  Looks like we're red and blue this year....very "All American."  I even went out and bought a new chair for myself, a red one, and my canopy tent (just in case of rain or 100 degree weather) is blue.  I'm set for the season!

Now on to this little cutie.  My Logan.  We got a family gym membership last month, and they have a pool.  Logan loves the pool!  He spends the entire time jumping off the diving board and swimming to the edge.  He's hooked.

We've been very fortunate the last week, there has only been a handful of people there, so he hasn't had to wait in line for the water slide or the diving board.

I REALLY don't know how to use my camera.  This is me taking an action shot of him coming out of the water slide.   Yeah....he's already gone into the water and come up out of the frame.  Nice one Tiffany!  I should be a professional!

And when it's time to go, I always get an argument..."but we've only been here 20 minutes!"    Isn't he supposed to be able to tell time at 8??

And my sweet girl Taylor!  She has become such a great help around the house, she is such a treat to have around!

This is our neighbor Ana chasing her down the street, Oh, and look...it's not raining!!

Rochester Middle School...not for much longer.  She is headed to High School next year.  Yikes!!  Where has the time gone?  I'll have all three kids at three different schools next year.  I see a lot more driving in my future!

That's the look I get every time I take his picture.  I always tell him, look at me like you're totally in love with me.  And I get Perplexed?  I'm not sure how to take that?

National Craft Month Week 3

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

May you always have

This week Jessica is our Contributing Designer for National Craft Month.  She made this wonderful "Lucky" Banner.

Step one. Using Nancie Rowe Janitz's Ole Ireland mini kit, print (1pg) Shamrock, (2pg) Stout, and (1pg) Stripes.

Step two. Using a cereal box, chipboard (etc.) cut out 5 shamrock shapes. AccuCut sells shamrock shaped die cuts in a variety of sizes.

Step three. Adhere Ole Ireland Stout paper to shamrock shape using Perfect Paper Adhesive. Trim paper to fit shamrock.

Step four. Cut Ole Ireland Stripe paper into 1.5" strips. Distress one side using Tonic Paper Distresser, if desired. Fold one strip at a time, distressed side OUT, into a circle. When the circle is complete, staple, glue, tape (etc.) to hold shape.

Step five. Adhere the circle to the shamrock. (The circle doesn't have to be perfect! Mine are all different!)

Step six. I used an EK Success paper puncher to punch circles out of the Ole Ireland Shamrock paper. Outline the shape punched using a like color (brown/green), and ink edges with VersaMagic Tea Leaves. Adhere letter, then attach to shamrock using a 3-D pop dot.

Step seven. Attach each shamrock to ribbon. (I used Maya Road's Pine Green Scallop Ric Rac.)

Step eight. (Optional.) Using Dianne Rigdon's Lucky You kit, print and attach rainbows.

Step nine. Hang and enjoy!

Sew Sweet Binder Album

Today is the 13th of the month, and you know what that means! 

New Class Kit! 

Today's is one of my favorites.  When I saw the Material Girl line from Cosmo Cricket, I knew it would make the cutest album.  I used a 6x6 Maya Road Binder Album, lots of sheer ribbons and ric rac, as well as some vintage lace.

Project 52 Week #10

I want to share a couple photos of my sweet cousin Hollister.  I got to meet him for the first time last week while I was visiting my Mom. 

Shad says put him down and run!!  Don't worry honey, the only babies in our future are Grand babies.....but that's WAY down the road!

Such a cutie!  He's 4 months old and he looks like a tiny little man, too cute!

**American Idol...can I just say...stand up, put the freakin' guitars down, and ROCK IT!!!  This is not Put us to Sleep Idol.  OK, I'm done.

Week #10 Challenge

I have been doing a lot of shopping lately, and all new spring colors are out.  All those bright colors look so wonderful, it makes me want Spring to be here now!  I know you wont believe this...but I have been really drawn to the yellows!  So this weeks challenge is all about color.  The colors yellow and black to be exact.  Then I sorta threw in another challenge, yellow and black....but try not to do bumble bees!  This turned out to be a bit of a "Challenge" for some of our Designers, but that's what this blog is all about....challenging yourself to do something different, something outside your box.  So here is what our Design Team did to inspire you this week:

What a wonderful Class!

Mom and I got up early yesterday, and drove an hour and a half to Santa Maria for a private class with my Aunt Teri's friends.  She and my Mom were going to teach the class, but since my trip coincided with the class, they decided to have me teach it.  I was going to be a "Surprise" for the ladies, and when I walked into the class, one of the girls actually squealed!  It was so cute.  Nothing like feeling loved!

And here is Tanya, she drove all the way from Carpinteria as well.  We should have carpooled!

My Grandmother, Betty, didn't know I was coming.  She was very surprised to see me.  The black hair threw her off a bit, though.

And this smiley girl is Patty.  Patty drove all the way from Chico (Northern Cali) to be here for the class.

And this is Stacia.  She has never scrapbooked before.

And Stacia brought her friend, Bethany.  She had never scrapbooked either.

So for the entire class, the girls were referred to as the virgins! (Not my idea)

~Amy Coon...Please note...These girls are from this day forward...Scrappers!!  I hooked two new ones into the Club!

We started our class at 11am, and we stopped for a bit of a lunch break at around 2:30.  Then we finished up our books about 4pm.  We made the girls pose for pictures before they left.

Aren't they just the cutest??

But what made me really smiled today???

When Miss Stella asked me for my Autograph!  She had me sign her ScrapTiffany placemat.  That just cracked me up!  I even signed the back covers of some of their completed albums.  Too funny.

Today would not have been possible without my Mom, Susie.  Thanks for flying me down!

And I also want to thank my Auntie Teri for putting this whole thing together!  She is a keeper!

Sorry, I don't have it in me to post the one with my finger up my nose...I'm just sayin'.

So we made the long drive home in the pouring down rain.  We stopped at the mall and bought some shoes, then headed home.  I will post some more photos of my trip later today perhaps.  Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Project 52 Week #9

This week I made two cards using some leftover scraps from an upcoming challenge.  Lovin' the green right now!

~California is wonderful!  Went down to the Garment District in LA today.  We were looking for fabric for some aprons, but found nothing.  We did, however, buy my sweet Taylor six, yes I said SIX prom/formal dresses.  She is so excited, and can't wait to see them. 

When we were done there we headed farther south to Temecula.  It was so beautiful, just as I had pictured it.  I got to meet some family too, that was really great.  Can't wait to bring the family with me next time.  I am meeting a dear friend for lunch tomorrow, then I'm taking my camera, my new book and a chair, and going and sitting on the beach for a few hours.

National Craft Month

As most of you know, March is National Craft Month.  What better way to celebrate our love of crafting than with some tutorials!  Some of my wonderful Designers will be doing tutorials every Wednesday, here on our Blog. 

This week our Spotlight Designer is Keely Yowler.

Keely created a Tutorial for a Fun and Fabulous Stamped Frame.

"Creating a stamped frame for your photos can add a unique touch to your layouts."

1.  For this frame, I cut white cardstock to 5"x7".  The photo I am going to frame measures 3 1/2" x 4 1/2".  Consider the size of your stamps and leave a generous amount of cardstock around your photo to stamp images.  I cut a piece of brown cardstock and taped loosely in the center of my frame to mask the area where my photo will go.  Choose stamps of various sizes and designs that compliment each other.

2. Begin stamping around frame.  Stamp images in different colors.

3. Continue stamping around the frame.  Keep overlapping to a minimum to avoid distorting your images.

4.  Remove brown cardstock from center of frame and adhere photo.  I inked around the frame with brown ink to give it a finished look.  Adhere to layout.

Now, isn't that cute?  You can jazz up cards and layouts with the fun and easy technique.  Give it a try and post a link to your project.  I can't wait to see what you create."

~Today I am flying out to Santa Barbara to visit my Mom.  We'll be visiting the Fabric Mart in LA later this week.  We will be picking out our fabrics for our Aprons that my Mom will be making for all of us for CHA Summer.  I look forward to sitting on the beach, visiting with friends and family, and finally meeting the world's cutest baby, my new cousin, Hollister.

Special Edition Spring Class Kits!

OK, here you go!  I felt so bad that some of our regulars missed out on February's Kits, I thought I should make another one.  This one is a 5x7 7Gypsies Board Book with 7 pages.  The papers are the new Flutter line from Making Memories.  Your Class kit will include 3 Yards of Ric Rac and 4 yards of Sheer Ribbons.  It also includes two different packages of Flutter Design Embellishments, and orange flowers.  The directions are color with very detailed instructions on how to put you book together.

Additional Supplies needed to complete this Class Kit:  White paint, foam brush, scissors, stapler and adhesive.

And I have a Special Surprise for you...Because of several ladies that missed out on my class at CHA, I reordered, and made more of the Kits!  This will be the last time that these are offered.

This album is 6x6 and has 7 pages.  The front and back covers are acrylic.  All the papers are the Cupid line from Pink Paislee.

Week #9 Challenge

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I had so much fun at the crop on Saturday, then spent most of yesterday finishing up the Special Class Kits.  I made a fabulous dinner, then we all sat down to watch a movie together.  I love Sundays!

This week our Challenge is all about Buttons!  Buttons are one of the things that I love to add to everything.  I love lots of texture and dimensions on my page, and you certainly get that by adding buttons.  Here is what our Design Team did to inspire you this week:
